Logorama is an Oscar nominated short film in which every character and pretty much every piece of the landscape is made from some popular logo. It starts off innocently enough but then turns violent with a heavy dose of profanity and other PG-13 elements. I loved it. You will too. Pivot

Pivot is a short foreign film with no dialog. It hasn’t won any awards that I am aware of. It hasn’t even made it into IMDB. Nevertheless I think it is a good short film that is worth watching. Here’s the synopsis: ‘When a man is witness to a murder and takes pictures of the killer, he has to run for his life. During the chase he is able to turn the tables and the prey becomes the hunter. All resulting in an unfortunate ending.’ Enjoy!

Consent

Consent is a cute short film that plays on the fact that two people should thoroughly discuss sex before actually doing the deed. How thorough? Well you’ll see just as two young adults lean in for the kiss. The language is rather suggestible so don’t play this in front of the kiddies. The film has written and directed by Jason Reitman and won a couple of awards. It’s easily worth a few moments of your time.

Alma

Alma is another award winning short film that is available to watch online for a limited time. It’s beautifully animated and while it’s written and directed outside of the U.S., there are no language barriers because this film has no words. It’s got a lot of dolls in it and if you ever thought they were creepy, this just might explain why.

The Cat Piano

This Animated Short has been nominated for an Oscar this year but has already received numerous awards. The Cat Piano is a noir sort of film and is described as follows, “A city of singing cats is preyed upon by a shadowy figure intent on performing a twisted feline symphony.” Want to find out more about it? Signs

Not all movies can can be feature films and not all can be bought in stores. Unless they’re attached to a larger film, most short films fall in that category. This particular film, Signs, was written and directed by Patrick Hughes and is a perfect twelve minute date movie. I wouldn’t pay to see it in the theater but that’s only because of its size. I give it a 4 1/2 out of 5 marks. The other thing that’s great about it is you can watch it right now. Enjoy!
