Welcome to the Movie Rental Finds blog. Don't know what to rent? Want to pick a good movie for your house guests? We watch, rate, and recommend them.

Rating System

theaterMost of these movies were reviewed at someone’s home. It is our belief that the requirements for a movie to be considered good when seen at home are less than if you went (and paid) to see it in a theater. Therefore, our rating system reflects the value of a movie as a rental. We know there will be critics but we welcome your feedback on each movie we review. On a scale of 1 to 5, five being the absolute best, our rating system is as follows:

5 Marks

  • The movie was outstanding. It is worth full price in a theater even if you’ve seen it already. You might even consider owning it & adding it to your collection.

4 Marks

  • This movie was pretty good. You enjoyed it. While certainly not among the best movies you’ve ever seen, it’s got something going for it like girl on girl action, extra blood & guts, stupidly funny, or something else that does it for you. It’s not worth the high theater prices but for a movie that you see at home, it’s easily worth the rental fee.

3 Marks

  • The movie was satisfactory. It was worth the rental fee but no more. You saw it, it wasn’t terrible but it was nothing to brag about.

2 Marks

  • This movie was sub par. It was not worth the rental fee but maybe worth the bootleg in terms of “you get what you pay for”. You saw the movie and the best thing it did for you was kill time.

1 Mark

  • This movie isn’t worth watching. If you started watching it, it isn’t worth finishing. One has to wonder why they even made it.
